Equestrian Survey

Dear All,
We are now ready to release the findings of the Equestrian Survey that many of you kindly took part in earlier this year. Over the summer a working party of members of the BSJA and JRC committees have been considering the full results and have already begun to implement some of the suggestions.
It has a taken a little longer to finalise a report to share with you as we’d have liked. However, you’ll see there is a lot of information and commentary and I’m sure you’ll understand it has taken a while to analyse and pull together alongside a summer’s worth of equestrian events !
Once again we thank you for your passion and support for your equestrian clubs and we hope you agree with us that this has been a very worthwhile endeavour. However, to get the best from all our efforts this needs to be the start of a journey of ongoing constructive dialogue between members and clubs, committees from different clubs and non-members of clubs alike.
We hope to hear back from you when you have had a chance to digest the findings if you would like to make further comment.
Louise Magris
Vice –Chairman JRC

Equine Passports

We have received the attached information from the States Veterinary Department regarding equine passports. To comply with European Union Law, if you take your horse out of the Channel Islands, other than to the UK, Section IX (introduced after 28 February 2005) must be present. If you have any queries, please see the guidance notes for the import and export of horses and ponies on the States of Jersey Website:

This information was sent to us by Ashley Pinel, States Veterinary Assistant (Tel: 441600)

Hat Standards

Please note that the hat standards have changed from 2016 and standard EN1384 and BSEN1384 are no longer accepted. The attached sheet helps you to identify permissible hats from 2016 onwards. Whilst the JRC will not be carrying out formal hat tagging we will be checked hat standards on occasion. I'm afraid we will not be able to allow you to take part in ANY JRC activities with a hat that is found not to meet the new standards. I am sure you understand that this is for your safety.
