What We Do

Dressage isn't just for the experienced horses or serious minded riders; we offer classes for novice riders as well as for those working at higher levels.  For young and inexperienced horses and riders we offer walk trot tests.

There are dressage events throughout the year both indoors and outdoors.

Show Jumping

We cater for all levels in show jumping from pole classes to over 1m and we hold regular indoor and outdoor instructionals.

Escorted Rides

Over the summer we take advantage of the long evenings to explore the countryside with our escorted rides. It is a great opportunity for any of our members to get together and enjoy a hosted hack in unfamiliar parishes.

Our biggest event is the Annual Show where we have a weekend of dressage as well as a show jumping and showing weekend. The showing section consists of many classes ranging from in-hand showing to working hunters. To practice members' showing skills there are some instructional evenings arranged prior to the Annual Show.

Derby Trials

Autumn is derby trials season and we will be partnering up with the BSJA again to bring a series of exciting events to you. Weather conditions have a huge impact on our autumn events so please keep checking our website regularly for updates.

In winter we offer instructionals at Les Marais and over the summer you will be able to train with local instructors at venues around the island.

For theoretical training, we would like to make you aware of some other training opportunities you may wish to take up.
Recently, Jan Roche (BHS Area Representative)  and Alan Hiscox (BHS Director of Safety) were in Jersey and Laura Speller met with them alongside Cilla Perchard to discuss exams and training in the Island.
As a result, it is now planned to hold BHS Progressive Riding Tests Series (PRT) locally. The PRT is a practical course for anyone wanting to improve or test their horsey knowledge, those wanting to set a goal or challenge themselves to progress their skills or for potential or current horse riders/owners.

On completion of levels 1-6 candidates have direct entry into the BHS Stage 2 Care (must also complete BHS Ride Safe Exam to have direct entry to Stage 2 Riding) and it is currently planned to hold the PRT tests in Jersey in August 2017.
BHS Stage 1 & 2 training has been running since the beginning of 2017 and there are already a number of people who would like to do the PRTs.

Laura Speller and Penny Cruttwell are offering JRC members the opportunity to participate in this programme and more info can be found using this link or by contacting Laura Speller directly.
