SHOW JUMPING
We try to offer something for everyone. Whether you have a young horse, are not so young yourself or just want to come out and have fun we are here for you!
We cater for all levels in Show Jumping from pole classes to 1.05m and we hold regular indoor and outdoor instructionals for all capabilities.

DRESSAGE
Dressage isn't just for the experienced horses or serious minded riders; there are classes for Novice Riders as well as for those working at higher levels and we've also instroduced the Walk Trot Tests which are aimed at young and /or inexperienced horses (and riders).
There are dressage events throughout the year both indoor and outdoor and several instructional days catering for all levels.

CROSS COUNTRY AND CROSS-JUMP
October is the beginning of the Cross Country season and to start it off we hold Cross-Jump Competitions. Cross-Jump is a combination of Show Jumping and Cross Country fences all in one course and is run on either a fastest time or optimum time basis. Classes are held for all grades with heights varying from 0.70m for the Novice Riders to 1m+ for the Intermediate/Advanced grades.
Cross Country instructionals and competitions begin in November and are held at various venues on the Island. Classes are held for all grades and we also include a Pairs section.
Our annual One Day Event is held in January and combines all three disciplines of Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. Again, classes are held for all grades.
All riders must wear regulation hats with flexible peaks, body protectors and medi card armbands at all Cross Country and Cross-Jump events. Number bibs are not required for instructionals but must be worn during competitions.
You can download the schedules for forthcoming events from the Event Diary.
CHRISTMAS SHOW
The Christmas Show is normally our last event of the year. This two day event has classes for all levels in both Dressage and Show Jumping. Christmas turnout is encouraged and along with some Mulled Wine and Mince Pies, the competition is a nice way to end the year.
SPRING SHOW & AUTUMN SHOW
At these 'mini shows' we try to hold similar classes to the ones included within our Annual Show. The intention is to enable members to 'have a go' at something that they have not yet tried in a fun competitive environment. It also provides our experienced members a chance to prepare for the season. Our Spring Show is held in May and our Autumn Show is held in September.
ANNUAL SHOW
Our biggest show event is the Annual Show held over two weekends in June. The first weekend being the Dressage and the second being our Main Show. The Main Show consists of over 35 classes ranging from In-Hand Showing and Poles to Working Hunter and Top Score Jumping. We cater for all abilities, for both horse and rider, giving every member an opportunity to compete in at least two classes.
BHS QUALIFICATIONS
The Jersey Riding Club run Equitation and Horse Welfare Courses starting at Stage 1 through to Stage 3. Stage 1 provides a basic level of understanding about having your own horse or more knowledge to anyone with an interest in horses, whether you are a rider, Mum or unpaid helper!
Stage 2 builds on the knowledge gained in Stage 1 and Stage 3 takes it further and introduces more training of the horse. We also offer the Horse Welfare Stage 4 course (previously Stable Managers Certificate) but the exam will need to be taken in the UK.
Each stage is a 10 week course, one night a week, with an optional exam at the end. There is small charge for the course payable in advance.
These sessions are generally run with small groups in a friendly atmosphere so as to put the fun back into learning and provides a good forum for people to discuss ideas/concerns.
Training Update - November 2011
Cilla Perchard and Vicky Carlyle are now qualified as Riding and Road Safety Trainers and plan to offer this qualification in the New Year. We have established contact with Andrea Parsons from Alderney who is a BHS Master Judge and qualified to examine Stage 4 so in addition to Stages 1 - 3, we are hoping to arrange more advanced lectures in 2012 for those wishing to progress further.
Please click here for Stage 1 Syllabus & Stage 2 Syllabus
All members are welcome to participate, please contact Vicky Carlyle via email if you are interested attending.
